3rd All Time Scorer.. Kobe Bean Bryant
On December 14, 2014 Kobe Bryant surpassed Legend Michael Jordan in most points scored. Kobe played in the league for 18 years, this is his 18th year, and Michael Jordan played in league for 15 years. Kobe was drafted in 1996 right out of high school. Michael Jordan went to college first before he went pro. Most people say, "Well Kobe has more years." That is not the point. Sure Michael scored more in less years. But that is his fault for retiring two times and coming back. Jordan has one more ring on Kobe, but Kobe can now say he has more points than Jordan. Kobe Bryants' point record right now is 32,310. Bryant is behind Karl Malone(36,928) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar(38,387). Kobe made this milestone versus the Timberwolves and right after Kobe shot the free throw to pass Jordan they stopped the game and congratulate him for the milestone. Bryant said this after the game,"I'm just honored to be here, man, to still be playing, I appreciate being able to play this long. Careers normally don't last this long. I really appreciate the opportunity to still be out there playing and performing and doing what I do." Of course people had to ask how Michael Jordan felt about Kobe passing him and this is what he had to say about Kobe passing him, "I congratulate Kobe on reaching this milestone, He's obviously a great player, with a strong work ethic and has an equally strong passion for the game of basketball. I've enjoyed watching his game evolve over the years, and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes next." Kobe also had to say this, "He(Jordan) knows how much I've learned from him, from the other legends, but him in particular." Players in the league like LeBron sent tweets out congratulating Kobe and his achievement. Also, legends like Magic Johnson who is a former Laker. To celebrate Bryants' achievement, Nike, which sponsors both athletes, put a special edition "Mamba Moment" shoe on sale online for $245. It was a great moment of history for Kobe and the Bryant family. This is not the end of Kobe Bryant breaking history. He will achieve more milestones in his career because it is not quite over yet, he has at least one more year in him. Until then, we will see how much more points Kobe will score and he will continue adding more points today, December 15, 2014, against the Indian Pacers. Tune in to see Kobe add more points on his career points.
